I am currently using an old Zyxel wireless router (nbg460n) with two wireless routers as access points. Devices partly with fixed IP, partly dhcp. Would this router provide better connections?

It is difficult to answer whether the connection is better.
The data throughput of the EdgeRouter X SFP is very high in any case. (see other answered questions)
Fixed IP and DHCP is no problem with it.
We use this router with several access points and switches from Ubiquiti and we are very satisfied with the performance.

(When using the previous access points, there is hardly any improvement in the connection quality/coverage of the WLAN with this router. - Only an improvement in data throughput could be achieved with it).
