Hi Tofu, usually a generic test is ran on these products to ensure there are not faults. in the event that the device fails a diagnostic test, the specific failing part is replaced, hence the device is re-classified as "refurbished" or "used". The only reason I can imagine why the price is still lower than a new device is only because no one can predict what next will go wrong after a long or short usage of the device.
