Good evening community people, I have a question and a problem.... I have a Upc Giga connect box in bridge mode and the router from Asus RT-AX88U Gaming, and have the Dual Wan active on primary runs the Wan and on Lan4 the secondary, now the question does it need the Dual Wan actually? and the problem, in between the connection goes away from the wan and shows me a red wan led and then comes back in like 2 to 3 min hmm... I am wondering what this can be, because it is already important that the whole thing must run because I have a Synology server 918+ running with websites and Plex and Ts3, does anyone have an idea what this can be I am glad for any help I can get. Greetings Reto

Hello Reto

So your UPC modem only gets one IP. no "second" Wan can come out. What happens is that the first device grabs the IP after plugging in the UPC modem as a bridge and that's it. The failure probably comes from the fact that the ASUS periodically checks the second WAN, but the UPC does not allow this and it takes until the old connection is re-established. So just unplug a cable from the UPC to the Asus. unplug both (so that the UPC gets a new IP), plug in the Asus and UPC and that's it. A second Wan would be, for example, a UMTS modem or a Swisscom line or even worse.

Mine runs on fibre 7 with 1 G bit and everything runs perfectly. With one WAN.

Hello Reto

If you only have one connection to the Internet anyway, then you don't need a Dual Wan. Where should the dual (i.e. the second internet line) come from? UPC has max. 1 G bit and that also goes in with the ASUS connection. There is almost no data stream with 1 G bit coming from anywhere anyway. You only need this for parallel downloads etc. or parallel Netflix power-watching in lockdown.
So simply switch off dual Wan and plug it in normally. Then select the gaming settings depending on the game.

My router runs with single WAN without problems. Just do the firmware updates and that's it.
