Does this device also work with the previous Fiber7 optics (1Gbs)? I'm planning to switch to Fiber7-X, but I'm not there yet. I have inserted the previous SFP module - the fibre signal seems to come through ("SD" lights up), but no packets go through. I assumed that the unit was backwards compatible, Ethernet-side (10Gbs and 1Gbs) *and* fibre-side (10Gbs SFP+ and 1Gbs SPF). Is this not the case?

I am using the device with Fixer7-X and upgraded from Fiber7. The optics of SFP and SFP+ modules are different, so this converter is not expected to work with the previous optics when you switch to Fiber7-X.
I got the following module from FS.COM: "SFP+ Transceiver Modul mit DOM - Generisch Kompatibel 10GBASE-BX BiDi SFP+ 1270nm-TX/1330nm-RX 10km DOM Simplex LC SMF" and I can confirm that this one works fine with Fiber7-X.
