the FRITZ!Box 5690 Pro cannot establish a mobile connection with a normal SIM card without further ado.

The device cannot be used with a normal SIM card as it is a fibre optic router and does not support mobile SIM cards. It is designed for fibre optic connections (FTTH) with an integrated fibre optic modem (ONT) and does not have an LTE or 5G SIM card slot. The FRITZ!Box 5690 Pro does not support mobile connections via SIM cards, unlike other models such as the FRITZ!Box 6890 LTE, which can use LTE SIM cards.
