Can I use both the HDMI and DVI ports on the docking at the same time? I would like to use 2 screens at the same time with my Acer Ultraabook which should not display the same image.

Helpful answer

I use the docking station to connect an external screen, the internet and the power supply. The internet and the screen data are connected via USB cable between the docking station and the laptop.
I don't know whether a monitor can be operated at the HDMI and DVI connections at the same time, but it could be. If so, the same image would be displayed on both monitors.
To be able to display two different images, the laptop graphics card would also have to be able to deliver two different images via the same USB connection, which I doubt as a possibility.
Whether the laptop can deliver two different images at all can be easily tested. Connect an external monitor and try via graphics card settings to display different images on the laptop and the external monitor. If this is possible, there is still the problem of how to get the image shown on the laptop onto an external monitor.
If the laptop has two picture outputs (HDMI and DVI), there remains the possibility of connecting the second external monitor directly to the laptop. However, this is only useful if the graphics card allows two different displays to be produced.
