Data strategy, not just data storage

Ultrastar NVMe Enterprise SSDs are the ideal solution for cloud and server providers that require powerful, cost-optimized read performance with high capacity for their data-intensive applications.

Unlocking the full potential of enterprise SSDs

With dual-port redundancy and failover capability, end-to-end data protection, and additional enterprise features, Ultrastar DC SN655 NVMe SSDs help ensure that your data is secure and available when needed. With high capacity and low latency performance reaching up to 1.1 million IOPS, storage providers can efficiently increase capacity for modern applications that process large unstructured datasets, reduce time to insight for big data, and enable efficient machine learning.

Features

The Ultrastar DC SN655 NVMe SSDs feature the next-generation Western Digital NVMe 1.4b controller with PCIe Generation 4.0 interface and Western Digital BiCS5 TLC 3D NAND, allowing for higher capacities and performance as workloads scale to ever-larger application demands. The SN655 is designed for standard 2.5-inch SSD storage infrastructure and supports U.2 and U.3 backplanes, as well as power loss protection, 2.5 million MTBF (projected), and 1.0 DW/D.

Emerging workloads

Ultrastar DC SN65x NVMe SSDs are optimized for cloud and scale-out workloads, providing high QoS consistency for emerging workloads in big data, artificial intelligence, and machine learning that are increasing in size and complexity, making them the ideal solution for scaling capacity and maximizing GB/Watt.

Protocol

Read transfer speed

The read rate determines how fast the data on the storage medium can be read or transferred by a computer.

Write transfer speed

Data transfer rate or just transfer rate is the average number of bits, characters, or blocks per unit time passing between equipment in a data transmission system.

Max. random 4K read

This key figure indicates how many small file blocks (4 kilobytes) can be read from the SSD per second. A higher value means faster response times when starting programmes and loading files in everyday use.

Max. random 4K write

This key figure shows how many small file blocks (4 kilobytes) can be written to the SSD per second. A higher value ensures smoother work when saving files or installing software.
