S7-SCL is particularly suitable for programming complex algorithms and mathematical functions or for tasks in the field of data processing. S7-SCL combines language elements from high-level programming, such as loops, conditional branches, and jump statements, with PLC-specific language extensions, such as addressing inputs and outputs or starting and querying timers and counters. S7-SCL conforms to the textual high-level language ST (Structured Text) defined in the IEC 61131-3 standard and meets the Base Level and Reusability Level according to PLCopen. SCL is an essential component of STEP 7 Professional (TIA Portal).
