What can I say ... it's a real gem. My husband already owns the Xperia Z and it's great. So I really wanted the successor, the Xperia Z1. It looks really classy and is also super fast. Sony has really caught up in the last few years and they are getting better and better. Everyone already owns Apple and Samsung. It's just boring. I am completely satisfied with my Xperia Z1. Its a Sony !!!
Absolutely fantastic smartphone - I previously had a Nexus 5 with 16gb and first considered switching to the 32gb variant because 16 was too little. But then I decided on the Z1 because the camera on the N5 isn't much good and the battery barely lasts half a day with heavy use.
Conclusion: I am extremely satisfied with the Z1. What an absolutely g****s smartphone! Extremely well built, beautiful display (with slight deficiencies in the viewing angle, but doesn't really bother in operation), extremely good camera (only the Superior Auto mode should not be used, as an overly acting software messes up the pictures), insanely fast and smooth. Only minimal adjustments to Android. Installed the GEL launcher, now there is no difference to the N5 except that the phone is much nicer :-)
I now have it as the successor to my Xperia Z. What can you say. The upgrade was worth it. As I said, much more than an upgrade, which will really be worth it for a minority of end users.
Here I'll take the liberty of making a small comparison between the two, whereby the Z also received 5 stars from me.
Pro Xperia Z:
-lighter weight
-smaller size
-cheaper
-better cameraAPP (maximum resolution also available in automatic mode, greater customisability)
-pre-installed, really good navigation software (wisepilot)
Pro Xperia Z1:
-Much better camera especially low-light stronger
-Better display
-Fits better in the hand despite more mass
-Good improved volume and Walkman app
-Super software additions for photo editing on the go.
-Sensibly enhanced Sony UI.
-(significantly longer battery life)
-(Dedicated camera button)
I put the last two points in brackets because not everyone necessarily needs this, but if you're outdoors a lot like I am, which the IP certification makes obvious, you'll notice it. However, if you always have a power socket at hand, you don't need it.
Advantages of both:
-Very fast devices
-Top workmanship
-Waterproof and dustproof
-Good to very good cameras
-Well priced
-Very elegant
-expandable memory.
-android 4.3 update in December
I was satisfied with my Sony Xperia Z1. Camera is good.
The phone was defective after 8 days. Due to a small crack in the display, which was caused by a key, the display no longer reacts. The phone is now unusable.
According to Digitec, this is not a warranty case, but they have not even looked at the phone.
Not so happy with the Z1
- Camera image quality very poor
- Display already has a film on it from the factory, as the film is softer than the actual glass, it unfortunately scratches much faster.
- Possibility to move certain apps to the microSD as with the Galaxy is not possible with the Sony, which I find stupid with so little internal memory 16gb.
- WIFI reception is also not the best, where my old iphone has full reception, the Z1 has just 1 line.
But the build quality is TOP, at least that...
That's just my personal opinion, I'm a bit too picky about such things ;-)
Absolute buy recommendation!
It's clearly the best smartphone at the moment.
Fast, fluid operation thanks to Quad Core & 2GB RAM
simple "naked" Android (update to 4.3 immediately possible)
Top design, top workmanship Top battery life, SIP capable
Thumbs up ... clearly 5 stars
