Price/performance O.K.
If you don't want a 4.8 inch beater in your pocket, you'll be happy with the 4 inch screen.
Runs very smoothly with Android 4.1.2.
There are certainly better cameras (poor picture quality, especially when it's not so bright, and has a somewhat long response time).
Display resolution is rather low for today's standards, but is only really noticeable with small fonts.
The strong colours on an AMOLED screen are a matter of taste. For me, they are a little too unnatural.
The battery should have a bit more power, but with moderate use you can get by for 2 days.
Basically a good device in the lower mid-range. I would probably buy it again.
The S3 mini is my first smartphone and I am satisfied after 2 weeks:
+ good display despite rel. low resolution (HD movies+photos look very good), eBook reading goes well for some pages.
+ Android 4.1 is nice
+ Response time generally good (except camera)
-Camera a bit weak: only 5MP, low low-light performance, photos have "mobile phone charm" and colour shifts
- Battery life a bit short when playing games and watching videos (after 1 day battery only half full displayed)
=> Conclusion: recommendable, I don't regret the purchase.
Junk. I have no more than one word for it, because for all its bells and whistles, it has features that completely disqualify it for me:
- KIES takes almost half an hour to synchronise my 130 contacts and about 1000 calendar entries (my Nokia E72 does it in 1-2 minutes).
- KIES hangs and has to be stopped with the task manager if you cancel the sync process with the cross at the bottom right.
- KIES often does not recognise the phone if it was already connected before you start KIES.
- Pairing with the phone preparation in the VW Touran does not work properly, the PIN is not displayed immediately but only when the Bluetooth visibility is switched on for the second time.
- The selection of the folders to be synchronised in Outlook is disastrous, because e.g. for the calendar dozens of possibilities are displayed, namely all the calendars visible to me at all.
- After/during the calendar sync, I regularly receive notices of missed meetings from March 2013 or from sometime.
- All SMS messages are also displayed in the phone log. Frequent texters will really enjoy finding out who called them and when, which is only recognisable by a small phone symbol.

If you want a mobile phone with a radio and the possibility to record from it, there is not much choice. I checked all the models with this feature in this medium size class by means of test reports, and this was almost the only one left besides the successor model S 4 mini. The radio functions have been improved compared to before by making it easier to change the title after saving.
Typing errors happen again and again with keystrokes, so you have to proceed slowly and accurately here.

good device.
Why is it not mentioned anywhere here (in the details or reviews) that you can no longer move the apps with Android 4.1.2 (delivery state) to the memory expansion in the normal way ????
I might as well buy an iPhone if everything is restricted!

Super device, the price - performance ratio is above all. Just a few points:
+ Speed
+ display
+ Camera (not even to compare with S2 and S but not as good as Iphone 5)
+ Connectivity (has everything that can be used today, NFC, Bluetooth LE). Easy data exchange
- The case is inferior. After a year (almost only used with cover) it has got several marks, and the cover is certainly not shiny anymore
- Battery. It does last a day but no more!
@wingman40: Check your settings (be sure that Power Saving is active and that there is a short period for turning off the screen).

To answer suisstiger's question (from my point of view) the following: No, you can't. The user has to buy an adaptor to change his micro SIM to a "normal" size. Micro SD ... i.e. memory
for this: YES (not included, by the way).
So and now something about my experience: I would love to give it 4 stars, but the performance of the included battery is really "lousy". You can literally watch the % decrease. Drip drip and it's already empty. I only surfed the net, made a phone call now and then, and sent a text message if I had to. With intensive use (i.e. the way you use your mobile phone today), it doesn't last a day! What a shame for such a good device. So always take the charger with you, or at least the USB data cable! Then you'll have enough juice for the fun.

have important questions can you use the device with a micro sim card and is the sim look free?

The price/performance ratio of this device is unbeatable. I have been using it for 2 weeks.
+ Android 4.1 (almost always smooth operation)
+ Small and handy
+ Workmanship
+ Pleasant working speed
+ Amoled display = top colours and contrast
+ Good loudspeaker and phone quality
+ Good battery / endurance (approx. 2 days use)
+/- Has a normal SIM slot -> had to make an adapter for mircoSIM ;)
- Camera shutter delay (quality is ok)
- Display resolution (no HD and PenTile)
- WLAN and network reception moderate
Conclusion: Good mid-range smartphone for a good price, recommend it :)

Very good mobile phone. Price performance is right. Unfortunately without NFC technology.
After two weeks of testing, the conclusion for my needs is absolutely positive.
Use with NATEL® easy smart.
Attention:
If the mobile data are not deactivated, however, daily costs of CHF 2 are incurred because certain apps also transmit data in the background.
It's good that you can quickly switch the most important functions on and off.
The battery lasts me two to four days, depending on use.
Tip:
Your device offers you options to reduce power consumption. By adjusting these options
and deactivating background functions, you can use the device longer without having to recharge the battery.
without having to charge the battery:
- When you are not using your device, activate sleep mode by pressing the On/Off button.
button.
- Use the task manager to close applications that are not needed.
- Deactivate the Bluetooth function.
- Deactivate the WLAN function.
- Deactivate the automatic synchronisation of applications.
- Reduce the illumination time of your screen.
- Reduce the brightness of the screen.

This device is simply awesome:-)
Perfect display size with a very good display. Only the battery leaves something to be desired.
And it works even smoother than the normal s3.
LTE is not really usable for a long time anyway.
Simply a joy

The phone is actually quite OK. Nevertheless, I will either switch to the Nexus 4 or go straight back to an iPhone.
Samsung forces apps on you that I personally don't need (my Orange, Samsung Apps, ChatOn) which can't be removed without rooting.
I used to have the predecessor of the Nexus 4. I now like Android quite a lot, but this TouchWiz or Nature UX interface is just so bad. Of course, you can simply install a different launcher (Nova Launcher). But that doesn't make the phone any faster, rather the opposite.
The keyboard is also just slow compared to the iPhone, iPod and iPad keyboard, i.e. I can't type really fast.
I also tried Swiftkey, but that didn't really bring any significant improvement. I can type even faster on the Sony Xperia tipo, even though it has a smaller display.
I don't really have many apps installed either, which would explain the pauses in between.
The operation of an iPhone 4 is smoother than that of the Galaxy S3 mini.
Conclusion: I need a Nexus 4 or an iPhone.

Good mobile phone. Finally, not such a huge thing with almost all the functions like the normal S3.
