BlackBerry Z30
16 GB, Black, 5", Single SIM, 8 Mpx, 4G
Probably the most undervalued and ignored top smartphone on the market. Yet a lot has happened since Blackberry 10.0:
- Most important Android apps now run smoothly (Spotify, Instagram, Wunderlist, Feedly etc.etc.) and quickly.
- The battery life is absolutely outstanding for a 5" device, comparable to the Galaxy Note 3.
- The display is top - AMOLED, but with a stripe matrix, i.e. not pixelated like the pentile things)
- Very well built and valuable
- lots of accessories
- Everything runs smoothly and reliably
If the price comes down a bit, this could become an insider's tip among smartphones. It's a shame that the press is dragging Blackberry through the mud at the moment - they really don't deserve that. I'm not a die-hard BB fan myself and the Z30 is my second BB after the Z10 (which was really crap), but they don't need to hide. Unfortunately, no one seems to know that.
I bought a Blackberry Z30 at Digitec 2 weeks ago.
Unfortunately the device had a new defect. Could not be started.
The entire packaging was exchanged for a brand new package.
The unit was put into operation without any problems.
- Very easy to set up WLAN, MAIL, EXCHANGE etx...
- Top fast
- Enormous number of interfaces (Bluetooth, WLAN, WiFI Direct, Miracast etc.).
- Top workmanship in highest perfection...
- Fits perfectly in the hand
- Very good battery life, better than my Nokias 920 etc...
- Reacts very quickly, incredibly effective after training
- The born communication machine
Apart from the new defect of the first device, which was certainly annoying, but can happen with ANY manufacturer, an absolutely recommendable device, which reveals its true strengths after a short time and provides features that cannot be found with any other manufacturer.
With the update to 10.2.1, more great features will be added around the end of January (release by Swisscom).
By the way, the device is not branded, even though the Swisscom logo appears when it is started up. This logo is transmitted by the provider whose network you dial into.....
Finally a device that doesn't cause me any problems...how could I get along without BB for so long. The OS 10 is really very nicely done, and the fact that it also runs Android apps is another reason to buy it. The device is beautifully finished and feels good in the hand. Add anti-reflective films from Crocfol for protection, and you have the ideal smartphone. It meets my needs perfectly! Bravo RIM/BB

The BB10 operating system is in some respects far better than the current Android or iOS versions. Above all, the BB Hub ensures increased productivity.
With this device, you are not buying a high-end smartphone, but a BlackBerry. With all the advantages and disadvantages that go with it.
Many apps from other platforms are not ported to BB, which is why you usually have to fall back on inferior alternatives.
If you want to install Android apps, you can do so via the Amazon App Store or sideload SNAP and install apps with it. This works for about 70% of the apps. There are problems with the support of Android services, which are not integrated in the BB. There are rumours that Google services can be activated on the Z30. I have not been able to do this.
USB OTG works with separately available accessories.
During software updates, I lost access to my microSD card several times and had to reformat it and reload all content onto it.
Music is no longer offered in the BB store. If you are out and about and want to buy a song (as you know it from Android or iOS), this is not so easy.
The support of covers for music albums lags far behind the competition. However, the built-in equaliser does a good job.
BB has integrated many functions into the operating system that are not available on other platforms or can only be retrofitted to a limited extent. For example, there is a file manager, task manager, statistics for battery and memory usage.
With normal use, I charged the battery after two to three days if it was then already below 50% charge. A better battery capacity is probably only available from Sony in some Xperia models.

A smartphone of the first order. Very solidly made (recently fell from 1 metre onto the concrete floor = no damage!) Software (OS/BB) runs very smoothly. The operation is kept very simple and thus the smartphone can be operated optimally even in hectic phases. In my opinion, BlackBerry has definitely caught up with the smartphone market again with the Z30, apart from the few technical exceptions.
For the price (currently 319.-), you can't get a better smartphone at the moment. The workmanship is excellent. Of course, haptics are very subjective, but I personally would rank it close to my personal reference, an iPhone 6, and thus above any Samsung plastic toy. The operating system is fast, lean and not cluttered with bloatware. Unnecessary apps like Foursquare, Twitter, Dropbox, etc. can all be uninstalled. The selection of native apps (Build for BB) is very limited, but thanks to the good support for Android applications in BB 10.3, this is not a problem. These can be installed either directly from the preinstalled Amazon App Store or with the help of the Google Play Store replacement "Snap" (http://redlightoflove.com/snap instructions on Crackberry.com). I was able to install my "must-haves" SBB and GoogleMaps (for public transport navigation) with manageable effort.

I can only confirm all what the other persons have already stated. This new blackberry z30 is just amazing. I used all existing platforms from Microsoft, Android, iPhone to the best one existing today which is the new BB OS 10.2. After a short adaptation, I can just confirm that the user interface is very performant and intuitive. Also the form factor is very nice build. I also like to have a phone which weights a bit more that the average, for ne to light.
I now wait on the latest software update which will give the user to run Android application without any trouble. What else?
You can be seen again with a BB
Already over a year old and still the best smartphone... I have all the apps that are important to me running: Postfinance, SBB, My Swisscom, Search.ch, Shazam, Spotify and of course BBM. The integrated Dropbox is great. I sync contacts, mails and calendar with iCloud. With my MBP and the BlackBerry Blend app, I have access to my Z30 (not just locate or delete it like with the iPhone, but full access to data, pictures, SMS etc...), even if it is on the other side of the world. The battery is from another planet.
My iPhone is now in the drawer, I only need my Xperia to download apps and copy them to the Z30.
BlackBerry 10 is for me what the Mac was until 10-15 years ago: far superior to all other systems, but hardly anyone was interested in it... Too bad.

Probably the best smartphone you can buy at the moment.
The display is top and the battery lasts forever.
Don't let these internet kiddies tell you that the display is bad. No normal person notices whether you have a pixel density of 290ppi or 350ppi!

Beautiful device.
+Good display (although not Full HD).
+Powerful processor.
+Good camera
+Supper battery
+Valuable casing
+Supper working software
+Supper sounding speakers (Compared to other smatphones) Slightly better than HTC ONE in my opinion.
+Memory expansion
+Micro HDMI port
-Music app is not the hit.
Very good device, wonderful OS, unfortunately not enough known...
Optimal security, Multitasking, good battery capacity
I have been using my Z30 every day since October 2013 for emails, appointments, phone calls, SMS, BBM, internet and I have to say that this device leaves nothing to be desired! The workmanship is absolutely top notch, there is almost no visible wear and tear and the battery still lasts easily for a day.
I have written a review and have already used all possible space for writing at about 50%.
As a conclusion from my daily use, I can only state that I can warmly recommend this device to every user who wants a phone for work and is dependent on consistency.
I counter the often criticised points such as too heavy, too large a screen and not enough apps:
The weight is OK. Lighter phones tend to slip out of your hand.
The screen size is at the upper edge, but acceptable.
Who needs apps? Apps are primarily used to access the user's data. Instead of apps, you can now cover almost everything with responsive web design / mobile websites. And if you still need an app, you can install about 98% of all existing Android apps using the preinstalled Android Runtime. Even the Google Store and access to your purchased apps ;)
The device offers Miracast, NFC, USB OTG, an excellent task manager, the possibility to register each user individually (tones, signals, LED), etc.
I can't see much wear and tear on my device after 30 months.
Another plus is that you can still synchronise your mobile phone with Outlook via USB in conjunction with BBLink, but you first have to enter the contacts correctly so that they are also arranged correctly. BB 10 differentiates between non companies and companies. That is why only company entries appear under the alphabetical directory, everything else appears in front.
Only minus: no rising ring tone possible (neither headphone, nor normal).

Top device, not a mainstream toy, but a super business mobile.
I already own the Passport SE and am just as happy with the Z30 as a second device.
A great mobile phone

In use for about two years now and still no reason to change. Once you have learned to appreciate the sophisticated features, you will no longer want to bother with an iOS, no matter how slim the devices may be.

The z30 suits me very well, I had the z10 before which was also good. This one is very similar and has a higher battery capacity which is really a plus.

Perfect mobile phone
As a former die-hard Android user, I bought the Z30 from BB in March 2014 - a qualitative masterpiece from BB - already fallen twice on the floor (hard surface!) and hardly a scratch. The battery power is almost impossible to get down, even with WLAN activated. In terms of security (OS/BB), the system can also be used in a critical environment. BB is and remains the smartphone for people far away from the mainstream who focus on quality and security rather than quantity ( ! ).

Great phone. I thought about whether I should really pay so much for an almost year-old mobile phone. The decision was definitely the right one! I've had Android for years and IO's aren't really my thing. BB OS has everything I need and the learning curve is very short. Really a great device with very good battery life. The infrastructure that BB provides me with is great, so I only need one mobile phone for my company and private life and can still keep everything separate.
I am simply happy.

Fast and very well made.

The best business phone there is. It's a shame that Blackberry has now switched to Android - the hub developed for Android is a disaster, apart from the fact that Android is not a trustworthy operating system. It's a shame that Blackberry no longer supports the operating system.
