These SSDs are both totally outdated and it is no longer worth buying a Samsung SSD 980. My recommendation is the Seagate FireCuda 530, which is much faster than a Samsung 980 and can withstand up to 2550 terabytes of writing (no other SSD offers this much). Buying a 512 GB SSD is not recommended because the prices are usually too high and the write performance of 512 GB SSDs is also lower than with a 1TB SSD. Seagate FireCuda 530 (1000 GB, M.2 2280)

Is this SSD compatible with the PS5?

Helpful answer

Samsung Electronics GmbH Hello, Thank you for your enquiry. The Samsung 980 PCIe 3.0 NVMe™ M.2 SSD is not compatible with the PlayStation 5. A PCIe Gen4 M.2 NVMe SSD is required for compatibility with the PlayStation 5. Alternatively, we recommend the 980 PRO Heatsink NVMe™ M.2 SSD. The integrated heat sink ensures low system temperatures even under heavy workloads and thus a reliably high performance. Kind regards from Schwalbach Your Samsung Service Team

M-Key is normal for M.2 PCIe x4 NVMe. Your existing SSD also has this, see here and here: https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/M.2#Formfaktoren_und_Keys https://www.cpumedics.com/samsung-mzvlb256hahq-000h1-256gb-m-2-pcie-nvme-2280-mlc-3d-nand-ssd-solid-state/
