The ScanSnap SV600 promises exactly what you are looking for. However, depending on the original, the scanning process involves some manual labour. You should be able to get to grips with the problem of mirroring by using an additional light source or an appropriate angle to the window. The problem with open books, on the other hand, is that the pages usually puff up around the binding. The device has a function that allows you to edit the distortion correction afterwards. However, this assumes regular curves - which is often not the case. Often, for example, the upper and lower edges are not exactly the same. You can improve the result by pressing your finger on the edge of the page. What works very well is the subsequent removal of your finger recordings in the scan - but only if the pages do not reach the edge - which happens from time to time, especially with children's books. Nevertheless, I would prefer the ScanSnap to any other solution, unless you have the option of separating your book into individual pages. Then, of course, a flatbed or handheld scanner has the advantage. As far as the quality is concerned, I find it sufficient, unless you expect a repro image that you can enlarge to 2x3 ma.
