So check HP's homepage to see which laptop the station works with, mine is back to Digitec. Pay attention to the exact type, approximate is not enough... I have a Omen with 280 w power adapter too. This dock can power up the machine, but only with both thunderbolt and the charging cable. Hope this helps.

USB-C refers to the design of the connector, while Thunderbolt (2, 3, 4) refers to the different standards used to transfer data or power.
