You can't replace the battery on the Osmo mobile 2. But it has a larger capacity and so you can also charge the phone. Accessories like the base do not fit.
The iPhone 8 Plus weighs 14 grams more (202 instead of 188). According to various forums, the combination should work (of course only without a cover), but it should be noted that the glass back of the new iPhones interferes with the sensor of the Osmo, which detects whether a device is in the holder (but can be solved with a piece of paper between the sensor and the phone). Many people also seem to have problems with the DJI Go app, but this is due to iOS 11.
