With the adapter, you can actually convert the coax signal in your room into an Ethernet signal, provided the coax cable is not used for TV or radio or these signals are in the frequency range below 258 MHz. The signal strength is very good, as a net data rate of up to 1800 Mbps (PHY) is achieved, with a maximum of 1000 Mbps available at the Ethernet ports. The prerequisite is that the coax cable is free of other active signals in the 5-204 MHz range or that these signals do not interfere.

You need a coaxial cable, like the ones used for satellite TV connections.
