The Netgear ProSafe Smart Switch family is designed to bridge the gap between unmanaged and fully managed switches. It is ideal for growing businesses that want to manage their network. It offers Gigabit and an optional fiber connection to create a fast network environment that connects remote networks over long distances.
The PoE-capable Smart Switch supplies data and power to PoE-enabled devices such as IP phones, access points, or surveillance cameras through all 24 ports. No power outlet is needed for your network devices, as you can simply use a CAT-5 cable. The ProSafe Smart Switch comes with an easy-to-use web interface that you can use for troubleshooting and monitoring the network. Additionally, ports can be configured individually.
With Power over Ethernet, you can power compatible devices through the network cable. This significantly reduces cabling efforts for end devices like wireless access points, IP phones, and IP cameras, while also providing high flexibility in placing the devices. The IEEE 802.3at standard offers a maximum of 25.4 watts of power on each PoE+ port with a voltage of up to 50 volts. The standard assumes that after line losses, 21.90 watts of usable power remain or can be drawn to avoid exceeding the maximum power output. For PoE+, a Cat5e/6 cable is recommended.
