They are used for signal transmission at high data transfer rates (10 Gbps). Due to the high signal frequencies, special care must be taken during installation and assembly, particularly at the connection points of the wires. The individual wire pairs in Cat 6A are twisted with varying tightness, which further reduces susceptibility to interference compared to Cat 5e. Application areas for Cat 6A cables include voice and data transmission as well as multimedia and ATM networks.
