The HDMI active optical cable (AOC) uses fiber optic technology to transmit the digital HDMI signal. This means that the signal can be transmitted much further than with a conventional copper cable (up to 100 m) and the risk of EMI/RFI interference is reduced. HDMI AOC cables also feature special copper power lines inside, so no external power supply is required.
