    MoCA-Adapter

Has anybody been using MoCA adapters in Switzerland? Many may have unused CableTV instalations in your homes, it could be a cheap way of extending your network with 2.5Gbs. "MoCA stands for Multimedia over Coaxial Alliance. It is a type of connection that uses the existing coaxial wiring in a building to deliver high-speed internet throughout the home, but without the hassle of drilling holes or running additional cable." Would be nice if Digitec would look into offering a variety of adapters, ie: goCoax, Asus, etc.

Salt Fiber Box X6 - a step backwards compared to the old box

Hello together I've been the owner of the black Box X6 from Salt since yesterday. The WIFI signal has improved minimally, but there are massive setbacks in other areas compared to the white box. With the old box, for example, it was possible to connect a USB hard drive and integrate it into the network as a network drive. This no longer seems to be possible with the new box, or I am simply too stupid to find the necessary setting in the GUI of the box...Has anyone had similar experiences with the box? Improve Wingo's network

What are the possibilities to improve my DSL Internet from Wingo? Current setup: Wingo performance Download approx. 350 mbps / Upload 100 mbps Hardware: Internet-Box 3 and 3x WLAN-Box 2 as repeater Depending on the area in the house, I only receive 100 down and 6 up speeds I would like to switch to Ubiquiti Cloud Gateway Ultra and add a few Ubiquiti U6s to improve performance. Would that work at all? Thanks for your help

    Galaxus Mobile Second SIM subscription

Hello, Does the second SIM card (5G) offered with Galaxus subscriptions work in a 5G router? For example: https://www.galaxus.ch/fr/s1/product/xiaomi-5g-cpe-pro-routeur-32724956?ip=Xiaomi+5G+CPE+Pro If so, is the throughput OK (with good 5G reception, of course)?

Who knows what to do : Poor mobile reception in the hobby room - external antenna or 5G amplifier needed?

Hello, I have hardly any mobile reception in the hobby room, surfing is hardly possible. WLAN/Wifi is not available there (other house). Is it possible to boost the 4G/5G reception for an iPhone? Possibly with an external aerial or an amplifier? Costs should be kept within limits as it is a temporary solution.

    UBIQUITI - HOME NETWORK ADVICE

PLEASE HELP if you are familiar with Ubiquiti products! I have a 4 story townhouse. Ethernet wiring throughout. Currently use multiple stand-alone WiFi routers with additional Ethernet ports. We often move from floor to floor so a MESH WiFi network is required. Especially for mobile phone calls as 4/5G signal is weak enough that the phones' "WiFi Calling" feature makes a huge difference. Also constantly switching from one SSID to another on our phones has become problematic. **Basement is the source for Internet via Fibre. It has the standard Salt Fibre Box with 4-5 Ethernet ports **Ground Floor is living room. Needs WiFi and at least 4+ Ethernet ports for TV, Sonos, AppleTV, NAS .. **First floor is office & bedrooms. Needs WiFi and at least 3+ Ethernet ports for Work PC, Printer, other. **Second floor is bedroom. Needs Wifi and at least 2+ Ethernet ports for Work PC, other. In summary, I need three [3] mesh WiFi APs but they each also need to have Ethernet ports - let's call each one a "machine"... Is it possible to have a powerful Ubiquiti Switch/Router in the basement with enough PoE that could power these three separate machines? I realise I don't actually need numerous Ubiquiti wall mounted dome WiFi APs, unless they are in addition to the "machines" I require. I might also need a fourth [4] Machine in the Basement - if I disable the WiFi on the Salt Fibre Box and enable the Ubiquiti sourced WiFi to allow complete seamless roaming for the entire town house.

    Which mesh system?

I live in a house with two floors. Each of the two floors covers around 200 square metres. Some of the walls and ceilings are very thick. We have several laptops, tablets, mobile phones and IOT devices (cameras, hoovers, lamps) that need to be connected to the internet. Around 20 devices in total. My current setup looks like this: - The Wingo Internet Box 2 is used as the modem - The Wingo Internet Box 2 is not used as a WIFI router. Instead, I use a Netgear R6800 for WLAN via Ethernet cable, which experience has shown to have better performance - The signal from this router can basically be received everywhere, but the speed is weak in some places - I also have several Netgear EX6120 range extenders in use - LAN cables are not an option, the house is old and the effort would be too great It actually works quite well for everyday use. Thanks to the range extenders, the speed is quite good everywhere (about 70Mbps download everywhere instead of 100Mbps, which is possible directly with the Wingo Internet Box), but there are days when it's not ideal. Another disadvantage is that I have to use different SSIDs in different rooms. It can also happen that both download and upload speeds drop completely if two devices have increased data consumption at the same time. For example, Zoom on one device and YouTube on a second device. I would now like to tackle this problem and have several questions: - Does it make sense to ask Wingo for a new router, or is the current model sufficient for 20 connected devices? - I think a mesh system makes sense. What is recommended and offers good value for money? I would be grateful for specific suggestions. Ideally, it should be a setup that will still be up to date in 4-5 years, even if I connect more devices by then.

Extending Bluetooth for an exercise bike

Hello everyone, I bought a Kettler 600 bluetooth fitness bike and put it in a maid's room 8-10 metres from my Swisscom fibre router. The room is separated from the router by 2 walls and 2 wooden doors. I get good wifi reception. My iPad bluetooth 5.3 connects to the bike but not the Kinomaps video application. I've looked at Bluetooth repeaters but they seem to be designed to extend audio only. Is there a solution to this problem? Thank you very much for your answers.

Experience with fibre optics from EWB

Hello everyone I am planning to change my internet provider UPC/Sunrise (the customer service is sub-par) in May, probably to I-Way, who have taken over the city network from EWB. Now my question; does anyone have any experience with EWB's fibre optic network, I haven't found anything on the net. Who would you favour I-Way or Init7. I'm not an Internet-Nurd, I'm a normal user or maybe a super user.

    Advice Access Point

Can you please advise me on the following problem: - In order to connect the inverters to the rest of the photovoltaic system / internet, I am looking for a suitable WLAN access point where I can activate port 49049. - The distance from the router to the inverter is approx. 10 m and there is a concrete wall in between. - The data throughput is low - No. of Ethernet ports: 2 - No PoE (as I don't know if the existing installation already supports this, or as an option. A power supply unit should be included in the delivery). - Mounting type: Wall / Indoor - No consumer product Many thanks for your support and kind regards

    Mesh Repeater for Hobby Room

Dear Community I have a quick question on the topic of Mesh Repeaters. We have a hobby room in which we currently have no Wi-Fi reception. The room is outside our flat, half a floor up and about 10 metres away as the crow flies (the wall of the flat and the room are in between). In general, WLAN reception seems to be possible in the room (I am sporadically shown the WLAN of a neighbour). Now my question: Is this something a mesh repeater can do or is the attempt hopeless? Unfortunately, wiring would be relatively expensive >1'500.-. If possible, can anyone recommend a mesh repeater that can do this or even the Swisscom Box 3 (we have the internet via Swisscom). Many thanks for the help 🙏

    Zyxel AX7501-B0

I am looking for a mesh system. I have a 10GB line. I have the Zyxel AX7501-B0 router. https://www.digitec.ch/de/s1/product/zyxel-ax7501-b0-router-13457903 I have found the Multy X: https://www.digitec.ch/de/s1/product/zyxel-multy-x-mesh-system-2er-set-router-6840469?ip=Multy+x My question is can I connect the Multy X to the router or is it more worthwhile to connect a Multi X to the router and then set up a network. I am looking forward to feedback. Greetings

    Hotspot and own network

Hello all I have a mobile hotspot at home. Reason: this offers faster internet than the cable modem. Now the network should work over 3 floors. I have a repeater (Netgear WN3000RP I know is already older). Now the devices always switch between the routers. They shouldn't because I have connected devices closer to the repeater (printer, Sonos box, HomePod and AppleTV). What do you recommend here? Buy a router, use it as a bridge and configure a separate IP address e.g. 192.168.1.250 and then ascending from this number?

    Mesh Wifi

Hi. In our house, the wifi coverage on the lower floor is not good. Now I wanted to set up a Mesh Wifi, but since the house only has sockets in the stupidest places, I need a system with ceiling mounting options. That means a normal standalone device at the top of the modem but one for ceiling mounting at the bottom. Orbi had a ceiling satellite unit but it's no longer available.

Setup Home Network | VPN, | NAS | Server

I'm planning to move out of my parents' house relatively soon and would like to have a well set up home network right away. I'm a computer scientist but come more from a software development background and probably need help there. I am planning a small server that I will use as a nas, for hosting some websites, some game servers (MC, Gta FiveM etc) and possibly also as a DNS hole. Planned as a server is a small SFF Ryzen PC brand self-built. Now for the problem: if I open ports for the server for privately developed apps, websites and services, play around with it, I don't want to endanger the security of the rest of the network. This is especially relevant since I sometimes work in my home office and dial into the company network with the GlobalProtect VPN. Since the server is also used as a NAS, I still need to be able to connect it to the local LAN as a network drive for backups. I would like to be able to access the NAS function remotely (probably with openvpn??) and the server via ssh. The ISPs I have looked at so far all do not support VPN with the standard router, candidates are Inet7, Wingo or Salt Fiber. All of which offer a static ipv4. What kind of router, possibly a firewall will I need for this? Can anyone here point me to a resource that explains the configuration and topology of such a network or similar? Best regards and thanks for your help
