Sabrent and Apex pack 21 SSDs onto one PCIe card
Storage manufacturer Sabrent shows the Apex X21 Destroyer on Twitter. This is a PCIe 4.0 plug-in card that offers space for up to 21 SSDs. Equipped with 8 terabyte SSDs, it costs over 30,000 US dollars.
The storage manufacturers Sabrent and Apex Storage are joining forces. Sabrent announced this by tweet. According to the homepage, Apex Storage only has one product in its portfolio: the Apex Storage 21, a PCIe plug-in card with space for 21 SSDs. All product information can be found at the link above. Sabrent fully equips the card with Rocket 4 Plus SSDs with 8 terabytes (TB) of storage space. In total, the Sabrent Apex X21 Destroyer has 168 TB of storage. That has its price.
The Rocket 4 Plus is not available to buy from us. The SSD costs 1100 dollars on the Sabrent website. This is a special offer price. Usually it is around 1500 dollars - multiplied by 21 gives 23 100 US dollars at reduced prices or 31 500 US dollars at the normal price. Add to this 2800 dollars for the plug-in card. The card should therefore cost between 25,900 or 34,300 dollars for a total of 168 TB of storage.
A definitive price is not yet available. The product is still under development. The final price is likely to be even higher, as Sabrent and Apex still need to clarify things like cooling and controllers for the 21 SSDs. It is also not known when the product will be released.
