The sound is slightly higher than our previous device, e.g. hardly audible outside when the bathroom door is closed. Still, it doesn't help with falling asleep, of course.

I don't find it too loud - a slightly higher tone than "normal" hairdryers, but certainly not louder and not more unpleasant.
