In 1948, while working as a nurse in the ophthalmology department of Paris hospitals, Danielle Roches treated burn victims from World War II. Her life and that of women worldwide was about to change. Faced with a shortage of medication in Paris, she created a plant-based healing balm to treat her patients' eyes. In doing so, she observed an unexpected yet astonishing side effect: her eyelashes and eyebrows grew dramatically. Danielle Roches had just discovered the first treatment for eyelash growth.

In 1994, Talika Research developed Lipocils, an optimized version of the authentic eyelash growth cream from 1948, to maximize its effectiveness and ease of use. The plant extracts from the original formula are encapsulated in liposomes to enhance their penetration, and the treatment is applied with a brush to fully reach all eyelashes from root to tip.
