The machine tap is made of cobalt-alloyed, high-strength high-speed steel. Its high heat resistance ensures a longer tool life. They are suitable for through holes and blind holes in unalloyed and alloyed steels up to a strength of 1000 N/mm², for tough elastic cast iron, and for non-ferrous metals. The thread is cut in a single operation, similar to high-speed steel with cobalt alloy. This heat-resistant material is used for machining high-strength materials and in long cutting channels that are subjected to significant heating. The cobalt content of 5% provides higher heat resistance and greater load capacity.
