Function: The DALI-PD serves as an interface between traditional dimming technology (phase dimming) and DALI, based on the standard for DALI Control Gears (IEC 62386-102) and Device Type 4 devices (IEC 62386-205). The DALI-PD interface converts the desired dimming level into a corresponding voltage signal with either phase-cut or phase-control. The universal dimmer operates as either a phase-cut or phase-control dimmer depending on the load. The operating mode can be queried via DALI (DT4). The dimming characteristic is logarithmically scaled according to DALI standards. The phase control provides a cut-on/cut-off sine wave voltage. The physical minimum value is 3%. From firmware version 3.5, the DALI-PD has an additional operating mode. It can switch from operating mode DT4 (phase dimming) to DT7 (switch). In this mode, the DALI-PD behaves like a switch. The behavior in this mode complies with the DALI standard for DT7 devices (IEC62386-208). In this operating mode, the switching characteristic is determined by comparing the virtual lamp power level (VDAP) with four switching thresholds.
