This detail-oriented mechanical disc brake caliper is made from CNC-machined 6061 aluminum and features a short lever travel for road bike brake levers. The pad guidance is achieved, similar to competing systems, using balls on a ramp. However, at Paul Components, these balls are larger to allow for smoother operation with more pad travel. Additionally, the steel ball ramps are specially hardened, and three steel pins keep the piston aligned. Instead of conventional plastic pressure discs, a flat needle roller bearing is used between the pad holder and the piston.

The independently adjustable pad adjusters feature a spring-loaded detent and can be adjusted without tools. The CNC-machined two-part brake caliper body made from 6061 aluminum has been carefully stiffened and reinforced only where necessary. It is finished with a high-quality anodization.

Paul Components believes this is the best mechanical disc brake on the market. It is available for road bike brake levers (short-pull) and V-/LinearPull brake levers (long-pull). This is managed by the length of the brake cable arm, which can simply be replaced and is also available separately.
