Which can(s) are compatible? Only specific Brother cans or are standard cans of any brand OK? Thanks in advance.

I don't know if you mean the bobbin for the lower thread or the upper thread. The bobbins for the bobbin thread are quite normal. You can use almost all of them for the upper thread.
The machine comes with two bobbins for the bobbin thread.
