The grinder is recommended for filter coffee, what are your experiences with espresso (portafilter)? Is the grind too "unimodal"? I would have no problems with minimally adjusting the amount of beans for the ideal shot (not too many clicks are possible).

I have the grinder, for espresso it just takes too long to get enough ground beans. (I estimate about a minute, depending on the speed). I can highly recommend it for travelling, but not for daily espresso. The grind can be adjusted very finely and the quality is top.
