My brand new fan makes a kind of squeaking noise when it turns on its side and when it is in "Silent Night! Very annoying - especially at night, and when the fan is new! I took it apart, put it back together... but no! But if I put my hand on the "motor head" - the noise stops! Any explanation - solution?

I have 3 of these fans and have had no problems trying to put oil in them

Personally I had about the same problem! I stopped the sweep in silent night mode and then I dismantled the fan! When I reassembled it I did not put the propeller against the stop (two little keys that hold the propeller against the bottom of the fan) but as soon as I tightened it up pulled the propeller against the outside and not against the stop it should not make any more noise

There must be contact between two parts, one of which is resonant. Since you were able to dismantle it check this and try to put an absorbent wedge: e.g. folded tissue.
We have not had any problems, we remove the sweep at night.
