According to the description, the machine has 4 different cup sizes. Can the amount of coffee and (hot) water be controlled separately for the Americano cups? Or are the two Americano buttons programmed like the espresso buttons (time)?

The coffee quantity and water quantity are set separately for the two Americano buttons. However, there are restrictions! According to the description on Nespresso, the amount of coffee is limited to 20-110ml and the amount of water to 25-300ml. In our case, however, the water quantity could be set to practically 0ml. The amount of coffee is really limited to a maximum of 110ml.
