Bioplastics are made from renewable raw materials such as maize, sugar cane and grain. The sugar from these plants is fermented and distilled, producing lactic acid (polylactic acid). Talcum powder is added to the lactic acid, causing it to crystallise. This produces a PLA that is more heat-resistant, namely C-PLA. C-PLA bioplastic products are suitable for everyday use, for example for brief heating in the microwave, and they are dishwasher-safe. The products are food-safe and free from artificial additives such as BPA and melamine. Also ideal for outdoor living.
