Hi Pat, I've had that too. For me, it helped to unscrew the Anti-Calc Collector (purple) on the right-hand side to let the accumulated limescale run out and clean the metal rod. Make sure you do this above the sink ;)
According to reviews in Brabantia Solid PerfectFlow Bubbles (Size B) it actually wins out well.
