The subtly tapered glasses are slightly flared at the top, allowing the foam to develop. With a nucleation point – a barely visible dot on the bottom of the glass – it releases the carbon dioxide bound in the beer, resulting in more bubbles and better foam. This keeps the beer tasting fresher for longer and also enhances its visual appeal in the glass.
