I haven't tried that out yet. I bought the bed in August 2016 so that my girlfriend could sleep on it. The bed is relatively heavy in its packaging, so that a man has to grip it well with both arms when carrying it. After unpacking, it became clear that the quality is relatively high. The pump and the connections are integrated in the bed. Now comes the interesting part, namely the inflation: the pump was easy to connect via the 220V socket. In operation, the pump was relatively loud, so that you could still hear it clearly at the other end of the flat. I didn't measure the time, but it takes about 5-10 minutes until the bed is fully inflated in the living room. Now came the crux of the matter for me! After inflating it, my (then) girlfriend thought the bed was too hard to sleep on! I then deflated it a bit, which made the bed much softer, so that you could almost fall in easily (5-10cm). In the end, my (then) girlfriend's parents slept on the bed so that my girlfriend could sleep in my bedroom on an Ikea mattress, which she found much more comfortable than the inflatable bed! So I found it easy to sleep on as a guest, it was soft and more comfortable, and much better than the other guest beds. I hope that I have been able to help you a little in your decision-making process with my experience described here.

Are inflatable cots suitable for a child?

Helpful answer

It all depends on the age of the child, but the air mattress is stable, so as soon as your child can sleep on a 'normal' bed, he or she will be able to use this extra mattress.

How long does the plastic smell last?

It takes a few days until it smells less. After that, the plastic smell comes back every now and then, I suspect it comes from the small openings in the corners. These are probably some kind of pressure relief valve, when the mattress is fully inflated and you sit in it, it smells for a short time afterwards, when it is not fully inflated it happens less often.

Ordered the bed on Sunday and picked it up on Monday, but still for CHF 180! :-( As soon as I paid, the price dropped... Very strange But that was not the question. The box is 54x48x25cm. I doubt very much whether I will ever reach this size again. But I can't say anything about it yet, because the guest bed is there at the moment. I find it a bit heavy to transport, there are other, lighter guest beds. I was aware of this when I bought it, I only need it for guests at home. Comfort was more important to me.
