"Cronotime," a table clock made of thermoplastic plastic, was designed by Pio Manzù in 1966 and was first included in the Alessi catalog in 1988. It is now presented again in black. E. Fratelli describes it as follows: This battery-operated clock, originally designed as a gift item for Fiat and later put into production in 1968 for Ritz-Italora, embodies both the essence of an instrument and a toy, showcasing the constant essentiality of its lines, simplicity, and economy that have characterized the short yet dense work of this designer, which has also influenced a larger theme: the automobile. "Cronotime" has the shape of a toroidal section that corresponds to 1/6 of the circumference of a circle. The shape is divided into two equal parts that can twist against each other, allowing the position of the dial to be varied in relation to the base. The dial can also be freely rotated.
