The fact that you have to register in the app was also a thorn in my side at first. And only for a small sensor night light. In the end, I managed to register both lights without the app. So it's not necessary and still works perfectly.

They also work like this in the basic setting. If you want to adjust the sensor or the duration of the light, you need the app. But it works great.
