Unfortunately, I have zero experience with digital audio and when I bought a "cheap TV" I didn't pay attention to whether it had a 3.5 mm output for headphones. It only has a digital coaxial output. I think I am well advised to use this converter. I hope that the converter can be operated with normal USB voltage without a power supply, because the TV also has a USB socket that supplies power. The main question: I assume that I need a digital coaxial cable, such as item number 2741669 from Digitec, for the connection between the TV and the converter? Is that correct? (Only: Are there also shorter versions, as the adapter is usually placed right next to the TV).

Helpful answer

Had a comparable situation: no connection for the stereo system on the TV

I then connected the TV optically (via Toslink) to the converter and from there to the stereo system (via Chinch). I connect the converter directly to a free USB port on the TV. This way, the converter is only active when the TV is switched on.

The cable (number 2741669) will work. Because it is a digital transmission (hi-fi enthusiasts will now tear my head off), a shorter "normal" cinch cable should actually also be sufficient.

There are also shorter cables: Inakustik STAR Digital Coax Cable (0.75m, Midrange, Cinch). 6.
6. any cinch cable should also work, I suppose. These are also shielded.
I operate the converter via optical Toslink.
