the SSD has suddenly given up the ghost after 2 years and is not recognised by Windows. is probably "SSD Sudden Death". Does anyone have any idea how to breathe life back into this thing?

Hi, are you out of warranty? I've already had one burn out, but within the warranty period. Otherwise, try to see if digitec will be accommodating. I have often found them to be very accommodating. Do you have an external hard drive reader via usb 3.0? I was at least able to get the data from the no longer bootable ssd with it. Now I have 2 of them and one is c, i.e. with the operating system on it, and the other is for cloning c, i.e. the first one. So one can go down the drain and I boot from the other... what can also help is to switch off the power supply and disconnect the pc from the mains for a few minutes, which has often helped me.

Hope you can manage that...
Greetings
