The specifications state "Max. Number of handsets = 6", but this does not seem to be correct as no DECT or such is supported. Faulty registration ?

Yes, that also seems to be a mistake, the T48G does not support handsets, that would be new to me. And there is nothing like that in the manufacturer's article description.
