The description says it has an S-ATA connection. Do I have to buy a SATA 3 cable for it? Sorry if this is a stupid question (I don't know much about it).
Whether it is a SATA 1 or a SATA 2 or a SATA 3 cable will not matter for this unit. But yes, you need a SATA cable (of some kind).
Hello mll199913. I would advise you to use an S-ATA III, a DVD burner also runs without problems with an S-ATA II, but the price is practically the same now. Note that the older S-ATA II standard is sometimes called "S-ATA 3" (stands for 3.0 Gbit/s).
The question is whether you need a separate S-ATA cable at all? New mainboards usually come with one or more S-ATA cables. With complete systems, some are sometimes included in the scope of delivery or are possibly already connected on one side in the PC and fastened somewhere with cable ties.
