Helpful answer
You cannot record directly to a USB hard drive.
You can use an external hard drive (USB hard drive) in the following two ways:
1. for programmes recorded (on the internal hard drive)
Moving programmes from the internal hard drive to a USB HDD to save storage space on the internal hard drive. The USB HDD must first be registered on this device. A maximum of 8 hard discs can be registered. These hard discs cannot be played on any other device!
2. for data files
Play MP4, JPEG, MP3 etc. on a USB device with this device.

Hello
Unfortunately I can't answer your question. I am already 89 years old. But I need the device every day to watch recorded programmes.
Greetings Wolfgang
