i have never tried it with skype. i think the camera will not be recognised without elgato. just try it yourself. there is probably a program from your manufacturer to use it on the pc. or look for a tutorial on youtube with using drsl as a webcam.

yes, you can. but you have to check whether your cam is compatible. for example, sony has a programme that only supports certain cameras. i also use my sony alpha for streaming.
