Not sure if this product works properly. When charging a laptop, the powerbank only gets very hot in the front area. So hot that you can't touch there and you can smell the plastic / mechanics. I wonder whether this poses a safety risk. I wouldn't leave it charging in a bag when travelling. (was a gift)

I have just tried it out. With the centre connection of the power bank and the USB-C charging cable supplied, charging an HP Spectre notebook works without generating heat.

I think your powerbank is defective.
