Question about Apple iPod touch

My nephew, aged 12, wants an Apple iPod touch for Christmas. Does anyone know if 32 GB is enough or if 128 GB is really needed? I myself have an iPhone with 64 GB and don't even use half of it. I would also be interested to know whether he can use WhatsApp or iMessage with the iPod, as there is no phone number stored?

The memory varies depending on the use. For example, if he only listens to music and watches short videos, 32GB is usually enough. As soon as several entire films are loaded, it would be better to go for 128GB.
You should be able to download iMessage normally, but WhatsApp doesn't really work because the device doesn't have a phone number. But there is a trick to get WhatsApp to work anyway. There are various instructions on the net (e.g. search for "whatsapp auf iPod Touch").
