Looking for a gift for a girlfriend. Can you also cheat with this device and record routes by bike or car and then share them on social media channels?

I don't think so, I haven't tried it yet. But the fitbit records steps. If you go jogging, for example, you can record the distance (works via GPS, but you have to take the mobile phone with you). If you cycle, the tracker also recognises this as cycling. As far as I know, you can share the data on social media. (Maybe check fitbit website for that) Although I still wonder why people do that? "Look, I moved". WOW.
