Unfortunately, there are no instructions in the manual or on the Internet on how to set up a WPS for this printer or how to reset the printer to factory settings.

Instructions CANON G3501 (WPS)
Switch on the printer
Press the (WiFi) key until the power LED starts flashing.
Press the (black) key (approx. 1 sec.).
Press the (WiFi) key (approx. 1 sec.)
WiFi LED flashes
Press the WPS key on the router
Both LEDs on the printer should now be flashing (the registration process has started).
After approx. 30 sec. both LEDs should light up permanently.
WLAN is now set up

I have the same problem: I manage to establish a direct connection with the printer's own WLAN, but the printer refuses to connect to my router. The WLAN LED lights up, but the printed network status shows inactivity, despite colour/black/WI-FI and WPS key combination. And there is not even a way in the printer's own web server to manually define the network connection, for example. It is exasperating and really does not speak for Canon!

The installation is not that easy! Registration via WPS is not possible (or I haven't found out the key combination despite watching a YouTube film and trying a lot). What youtube means is that you can connect via direct print!

Before you install the printer driver, you have to install the Canon Print/Selphy app on your smartphone and connect to the printer (you search for the printer name via WLAN, then enter the serial number of the printer as the password). In the second step, you can also specify whether you want to register the device with the router. If you want to do this, you must know the router WLAN password and enter it once (you will then be asked whether you want to use the same connection as the smartphone). Once this has been done, you can continue/start with the driver installation in the third step. It takes quite a long time until the printer is found in the network, but then it is problem-free.

Important: This printer cannot use AirPrint !!!!!. For this you can take the next bigger model G4510. It is not much more expensive!

It is true that the original instructions are incomplete and also partly wrong.

I had the same problems, but I was able to solve them:

Conditions: WLAN with wpa or wpa2 encryption, and NETWORK NAME (SSID) visible (not hidden). It doesn't say that either!

Then these instructions

If the Wi-Fi indicator is not lit, the wireless LAN is disabled. Follow the steps below to activate the wireless LAN.

Press and hold the Wi-Fi button until the ON indicator flashes.

Press the Colour button, then the Black button, and finally the Wi-Fi button, in that order.

When the ON indicator stops flashing and lights up and the Wi-Fi indicator lights up, the Wi-Fi is activated.

and now you still have to press the wps button on the router. somehow it worked.

It's not done properly by canon. they should be ashamed of themselves.

PS: the cashback didn't work either. either digitec wrote something down wrong or canon is doing the best it can to make sure you don't find the cashback! Somehow it seems to me that the whole world is under "financial" pressure, and that people want to squeeze out the last little bit by doing things like this. everything has to go fast, everything has to bring in as much as possible. we ALL should put our feet on the ground again and not just want to greedily skim off the top. less is sometimes more!

Same problem - the light signs do not correspond to the instructions, the USB cable is not supplied, is of course a special connection ... I can't get the printer to work.
Sorry, but this is a lot of rubbish from Canon!

do you possibly have a mac address filter active on your access point/router and is the printer in the same ssid of your wifi ?
