Isn't it possible to run at full resolution at 240Hz? DP2.1 doesn't have enough bandwidth either, does it? DP2.1 is maxed out at 77.37 Gbps afaik Calculation of required bandwidth: - At 10bit colour depth (3x10 because 3 colour channel): 7680 x 2160 x 3 x 10 x 240 bit bandwidth per second = 119.439... Gbps - at 8bit colour depth: 7680 x 2160 x 3 x 8 x 240 = 95.551... Gbps As I understand it, the bandwidth of DP2.1 would not be sufficient in both cases.

Helpful answer
It is possible with stream compression, however almost now of the current generation GPUs support DP 2.1.

Hello, I believe your calculations are correct. There must be some sort of compression going on, perhaps DSC (Display Stream Compression). I am running this display at native resolution with 10bits colors at 120Hz on the HDMI 2.1 port which also theoretically should not be possible.
