The Panasonic Lumix DC-G100D is not ideal for northern lights photography, admittedly because of its versatile functions, but there are some limitations to consider:
- Light sensitivity: the camera has an ISO sensitivity of 200-25600, expandable to 100-25600, which is sufficient for low-light photography. however, it may still be limited in extremely dark conditions such as northern lights photography. - Shutter speed: The camera supports slower shutter speeds of up to 60 seconds, which is useful for photographing the Northern Lights. - Stabilisation: The camera has optical and electronic image stabilisation, but using the strongest electronic stabilisation may result in a tighter crop, which could be unfavourable for northern lights photography.
Overall, the camera is suitable for low-light photography, but specialised cameras with better low-light properties and less crop for stabilisation may be better suited for northern lights photography.
