Philips Hue Gradient Ambiance Basis
Is the Abiance version also suitable for active lighting of a room, or are they dazzling when mounted directly visible on the ceiling?
Yes, this works very well, or is even better than the normal strips. The Gradient Ambiance already has a milky glass-like cover so that the LED dots are not directly visible and the light is somewhat diffused.
It is dimmable, so it should work. I just don't know how great the colour gradients will still look ;-)
It won't dazzle directly because the gradient is already built into a diffuser.
So I use it as active lighting and even without dimming it in all white I don't find it dazzling.
