I only used CD players in 2007 to listen to CDs via HPs, with or without a separate DAC!

You can connect any player, the advantage of the 6007 is that you can connect it with a 3.5 mm jack plug (included) to the remote control connection of the receiver (if it has one) and thus control the player and receiver with the remote control of the player.I am very satisfied with the player, it also fits optically, I have connected it to analogue and digital, but I would use high-quality cables, I hope I could help, if you still have questions, no problem.
